Water Treatment Plant RO Update
Big news - the reverse osmosis (RO) treatment process is operating! We’ve waited a long time for this and it’s exciting to be at this point. We thank everyone for their patience as the updated water softener setting is determined.
Why don’t we have the number yet?
Our operators are working hard to get the right mix of RO treated water blended with filtered water that is not RO treated. The water is blended because straight RO water can be aggressive and deteriorate some pipe materials as well as increase the cost to treat the water. Treating just a portion of the water with RO technology softens the water, while keeping some beneficial minerals. We want to provide one new grains per gallon (gpg) setting that doesn’t need to be adjusted again in a few weeks as we work on the right blend of RO water with non-RO water.
