Police Department
Welcome to the Brandon Police Department web page.
It is my privilege and honor to lead the Brandon Police Department and serve the citizens of Brandon, as well as all visitors. The Brandon Police Department serves a population of over 10,000. Currently, the police department consists of 13 sworn officers and one administrative assistant. The Brandon Police Department is committed to providing professional law enforcement services with integrity. We believe strong communication and engagement with the public enhances our effectiveness and makes for a safer community. As an example, to bolster our relationship with Brandon youth, we have one full time School Resource Officer embedded in the Brandon School District to facilitate interaction with students and staff while breaking down barriers.
The City of Brandon is fortunate to enjoy one of the lowest crime rates for like sized cities, not just within the State of South Dakota, but in the nation. The low crime rates are a reflection of the quality and health of our community. Maintaining the low crime rates and the high quality of life Brandon residents enjoy requires a strong effort and commitment by those engaged in public safety as well as from the citizens they serve. We need to recognize we are not immune from the crime and public safety concerns most other communities experience. However, by working together and acknowledging we have a shared responsibility in the policing of our community, Brandon will continue to be a great place to work, live and raise a family.
Dispatch services for Brandon Police Department are handled by Metro Communications and can be reached at 605-367-7000 or 911 in the case of an emergency.
I am very proud of the work Brandon Police Officers do every day. They receive incredible support from their families and the Brandon Community. We always endeavor to do our best while providing outstanding service with honor and integrity.
